Man United have inserted an important contract clause into Kobbie Mainoo’s contract.
Manchester United Football Club have always excelled when it comes to developing young players and giving the next generation a chance. Erik ten Hag has been keen to continue to implement those core club values and ideologies.
Alejandro Garnacho is now shining, while Kobbie Mainoo is looking super sharp upon his injury return. The young midfielder already looks more than good enough to compete at the highest level.
A few days ago, we covered a claim that stated Mainoo was in line to double his weekly wage from £10,000-a-week to £20,000-a-week.
Now, we have another update on Mainoo’s contract and United future. This time around, it comes from Fabrizio Romano.
Romano outlines that United have included an important clause into the contract of Mainoo, giving the club the option to extend his current deal until 2028.
United believe the player is a ‘special talent’ for both the present and the future, while a new deal could already be a topic of discussion for the young man in 2024. That alone tells you just how good he’s been since breaking into the first-team.

Mainoo has been ridiculously good over the last week or so. There’s no getting away from that fact. It makes you wonder whether if he were fit at the start of the season, would United be in a better place right now? That’s just how vital he has been.
United have always rewarded players early rather than late. This club wants to protect their asset and in Mainoo, they have an absolute gem. It makes sense to ensure that he’s content with what he’s earning here at Old Trafford, as no doubt he’d have plenty of offers at his door if the Reds decided to dilly-dally here.
City have already been linked with interest in the midfielder and no doubt United know all about that. Hence, they’re keeping Mainoo happy in order to keep him at the club for the foreseeable future.
