Man United have made contact with Leny Yoro, over a possible move for the Lille centre-half.
Manchester United’s defence does not look the same this season. It’s the harsh reality of the current situation at the Theatre of Dreams.
Erik ten Hag has to take some of the blame, though when you’ve largely been without three of the back four from last season (Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw), you can understand why this current crop of players are conceding more goals.
Just yesterday, United were linked with a move to bring in young Leny Yoro, as a possible option to help out in the defensive third of the field. At the time, we were sceptical.
Now, Le10Sport have backed up those rumours and actually gone one further. They write that United ‘have made contact’ with the talented defender, and his club, ahead of a possible transfer with the January window now in sight.
It’s stated that United, along with Manchester City, have made a ‘very concrete move’ towards Ligue 1, eyeing Yoro, who is one of the most ‘sought-after talents’ in French football.
The first discussions over Yoro have now started, with Lille understandably trying to keep ahold of the young Frenchman, who has become a mainstay at the heart of their defence.
Yoro’s contract runs out in 2025, though if the young man keeps playing this well, it’s hard to envisage him staying with Lille until that point. Aged just eighteen, a move away from your homeland could be particularly scary, though when two of the biggest clubs in the world are battling it out for your signature, it’s hard to turn that down.
