Man United are set to listen to offers for several high-profile players within the squad.
One thing you can say about Erik ten Hag with real certainty is the fact that he does not mess around. Cristiano Ronaldo gone. David de Gea gone. Jadon Sancho exiled. Mess with the boss and you’re out. That’s the way it should be.
The Old Trafford club need to keep backing the manager with real consistency in these situations. He knows better than anyone what this squad needs.
Today, The Independent have run a story on United’s possible outgoing transfer business. Once again, Ten Hag is showing that he is not scared to even put the biggest of personalities up for sale.
According to their claim, United are ‘willing to listen to offers’ for numerous ‘high profile’ players. Ten Hag only wants footballers who are ‘fully committed’ to his approach.
This time around, it’s Casemiro, Raphael Varane and the aforementioned Sancho who have been made available for transfer, while other heads could be on the chopping block if the right offer comes in.
The events of last week has only strengthened Ten Hag’s desire to trim down the squad and work with only players who are fully committed to the cause.
The need for a major overhaul has long been there for United, with Ten Hag still dealing with the remnants of manager’s gone by. It was always going to take time to work on this squad. Slowly but surely, that overhaul is happening.
Casemiro was considered a ‘revelation’ last season, though it’s written that he is a different type of midfielder to what the manager wants, while the player is also seeking ‘different experiences’ at this stage of his career. Varane cannot stay fit, while Sancho is completely out of the picture right now.
United will only consider incoming transfers in the January window if player sales are made, with Jean-Clair Todibo and a number eight sitting atop the gaffer’s wishlist right now.
