Bayern Munich failed to win the Bundesliga for the first time in more than a decade. The season has been a tumultuous one and led to the sacking of Thomas Tuchel (and might even lead to his rehiring in a remarkable turn of events).
One of Bayern’s former marauding fullbacks and the current coach of the Georgian national team, Willy Sagnol, believes that losing out on the Bundesliga is not necessarily a bad thing. However, he fully believes that Bayern will return to the top — according to @dpa, via @iMiaSanMia:

Here is his quote in full:
“Losing the league title and facing difficulties throughout the season is the best thing that could have happened to Bayern. That will force them to consider what went wrong and what needs to be changed — and when Bayern decide to make changes, it usually leads to positive developments. Maybe they need new players with a new motivation. I expect Bayern to be at the top again next season.”
Sagnol might prove to be right as, so far, in their history, when Bayern has underperformed, they have corrected course. The question is, considering the managerial merry-go round at the club currently, is Sagnol right? Will Bayern Munich find its way back to the top of the Bundesliga soon?
