Man United are hoping to sell Antony this coming summer, though as of yet, there is no interest in the Brazilian.
Speculation has been rife about Antony’s weekend absence over the last few days, though the Brazil winger was pictured back in training yesterday. He’s seemingly good to go ahead of a huge FA Cup semi-final against Coventry this coming weekend.
The ex-Ajax man has divided opinion since day one. I actually thought his debut season was pretty solid. United seemed to have more structure and control when he was in the line-up. Albeit the end product was often inconsistent.
Season two has been an abject disaster. Off-field issues coupled with poor performances have heaped the pressure on Antony, though he did look pretty decent against both Liverpool and Chelsea recently.
Journalist Rudy Galetti has provided an update on his future, claiming that United ‘would like to part ways’ with the struggling Reds star this summer, as they look to ‘lighten’ team salaries.
Apparently, Antony is attracting no interest as of yet, though United are hoping that will change.

🚨↩️ #Antony, #ManUTD – as told – would like to part ways with him in the summer to repay – in part – the investment and to lighten team salaries.
❌ To date, no one approached the 🏴 club showing interest in the 🇧🇷.
🤞🏼 #MUFC hope that things will change in the coming weeks. pic.twitter.com/0tyvxwqcqA

This is the issue. United overpaid for Antony. He’s on massive wages. I genuinely cannot see any meaningful club willing to pay what the Reds want while also matching his weekly earnings.
Eventually, one or two things end up happening here. Antony either stays and continues to be a fringe player here in Manchester, or he heads off on a series of loans, before his contract eventually winds down and he walks away for free…
Honestly, I’d just take the hit on Antony this summer. Accept whatever offers come in and hit the reset button. He’s blatantly not good enough for this level so the sooner he’s off the books, the better.
