West Ham United’s pursuit of Ruben Amorim has had more twists and turns over the past three days than the Monaco Grand Prix circuit.
Ruben Amorim emerged as the number one target for West Ham to replace David Moyes earlier this week, as news broke that he was heading to London to hold talks with David Sullivan.
It was suggested that the 39-year-old’s £17 million release clause would not be a problem for the Hammers owners.
However, everything went wrong as the West Ham fans’ excitement evaporated quicker than a pool of water in the Sahara desert.
Fabrizio Romano suggested on Tuesday that Amorim was now unlikely to take over at the London Stadium, despite numerous reports suggesting otherwise earlier in the day.
Claims have since emerged pointing to the fact that Amorim was using us to kick Liverpool into gear. In spite of that though, the Reds still didn’t come forward for the Portuguse.
And now there has been yet another twist it seems with the Portuguese media making a fresh claim…
Ruben Amorim to West Ham twist emerges
The Portuguese is one of the very best up and coming young coaches in the game.
His Sporting side play some truly scintillating stuff, and his footballing philosophy is in stark contrast to that of Moyes.
He deploys a 3-4-3 system that switches into a 5-2-3 when defending. His likes his team to play a really aggressive high press, and in order to get this to work, his players have to be highly energetic and physically robust.
Just go and watch one or two Sporting matches. It’s like night and day from what Moyes is producing at West Ham right now.
However, it does appear as though the dream of bringing him to the London Stadium is well and truly dead in the water.
That’s because A Bola have made a new claim contradicting all other recent reports by suggesting that Amorim’s £17 million release clause is in fact a big problem for the Hammers.
That doesn’t surprise me at all. We all know that David Sullivan doesn’t like to pay compensation when appointing new managers.
Ruben Amorim taking over at West Ham was probably always a pipe dream more than anything else.
And now it feels like it was never even a realistic prospect in the first place.
