Bill Kenwright Memorial Service
The memorial service for Bill Kenwright took place yesterday with many paying tribute to Everton’s longest serving Chairman. [EFC]
A number of Everton legends were in attendance for the service, including Adrian Heath:
“He always kept in touch – as soon as you left Everton you were never forgotten, as far as Bill was concerned. I went to one (a show) in New York with him and he invited me and my wife. I remember him telling Joan Rivers for about three hours how good I was, so he made me feel good. He never let us forget who we played for. As I say, he’s going to be sorely missed by a lot of people.” [Echo]

Here’s Tim Cahill with his thoughts –
“He’s a blue through and through. He taught me a lot about Everton. He always looked out for me and I appreciated that a lot.”

I spoke to the players and we commend them as staff because the strength of the group, often, is the strength of the people outside of the main starting XI at the current time. It’s hard to put into words but the respect I have for that group looking after themselves and us… it’s basically common sense but it’s not easy when you’re not playing to just absolutely stick to your task – train right, look after yourself – because when your chance comes, you have to go in and play well.
