Sevilla are in pole position ahead of Everton to sign Man United attacking midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that both clubs have submitted loan offers to the Red Devils for the 20-year-old’s services, but the La Liga outfit are currently leading the race.
Sources have told Football Insider that Sevilla are holding new talks today (10 January) in their continued efforts to get the deal over the line.
Sources told Football Insider (8 January) that the Toffees would have to fork out a “seven-figure” loan fee to secure the Tunisian as well as cover his full wages.
Mejbri has earned just 327 senior minutes for Erik ten Hag’s side this season but has been a frequent member of their matchday squads in the Premier League and the Champions League.
He has made 10 appearances in all competitions and bagged his first-ever Premier League goal in United’s 3-1 home defeat to Brighton in September.
Man United see him as part of their long-term plan as they recently triggered a clause to extend his contract by a year.
Hannibal was the subject of interest from several clubs in the summer and had the opportunity to join Turkish giants Besiktas on loan.
However, he opted to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place off the back of a successful loan spell with Championship side Birmingham City last season.
Everton sit 17th in the Premier League table following three consecutive defeats and next face Aston Villa at Goodison Park on Sunday (17 January).
