People have looked for all kinds of tactical reasons for why Chelsea were so much improved against Aston Villa last night – and some are even putting forward the idea that we weren’t that much better than in some of our defeats, we just got the luck that we have been lacking at times.
But coach Mauricio Pochettino knew what made the difference in our win over the Villains:
“We enjoyed playing football, that was the most important thing. When you enjoy playing football, the energy is there, and when the talent appears… we have great players.”
The question for him is how he keeps this team enjoying their football. Just a week ago they were beaten twice and in both games looked like they didn’t want to be there. You’ve got to be able to play in any situation, not just when things are falling in your favour.
That’s how we will get consistency and belief back into the side.
