Looking at the Chelsea squad now, you’d have to say that there’s not much room for attacking signings .
There’s an obvious need for a main striker, which will be addressed in the summer, but behind that there are a lot of players battling for limited positions, most of them on vast long contracts which makes them impossible to sell.
So we’re not too convinced by rumours they want to sign more – except when there’s an exceptional bargain on the table. That might just be the case here. Fichajes are linking us with a long term target, Rayan Cherki, who will apparently be available for just €25m this summer.
At that price, we might just be tempted. Still just 20, he has the potential to multiply that value several times, if he leaves struggling Lyon.
Still, as with most of these cases, both in terms of finances and what they can offer the player in a sporting sense, it’s vital that Chelsea get into Europe.
