Chelsea had a super quiet January transfer window that ended up surprising everyone involved in the game really.
Nobody expected Chelsea to be super busy, especially not compared to the last three transfer windows under the new ownership group. But they did expect perhaps 1 or 2 new arrivals. In the end though, nothing came and focus will now go to the summer transfer window, where they will have more time to find and work on potential targets.

One player they could have gone for in the January window but seemingly got priced out of making a move for is Brentford’s Ivan Toney, who has also been linked with Arsenal. No clubs went for him in the winter window due to his high price tag, but it’s clear the striker would have left if a club came in, and it’s clear that he will leave in the summer if a club comes in.
We don’t know if that will be Chelsea or not, but The Daily Express are linking him with the club again this morning in the latest update.
Toney had another great shop window display for Brentford yesterday, playing well, scoring a goal, and helping his team win 2-0 away from home collecting crucial league survival points.
With less than 18 months left on the contract of the one-cap England international, manager Thomas Frank knows the club will have to consider a sale this summer or risk losing Toney for free in 2025. And the comments of the Danish boss this week raised eyebrows, with him publicly conceding Toney’s future was up in the air.
“I would love him to stay forever, but the reality is he has one year left on his contract in the summer,” he said. “I think he’s been pretty open about maybe playing for a top club in the future, so I think there are a couple of scenarios; he leaves in the summer, leaves in the winter, or he stays.”
The comments were put to Toney in the aftermath of his goalscoring display, and his response was equally telling. “I see that as he doesn’t want me,” he said, before offering a nervous laugh.
“Nah, the manager has said what he’s said but listen, I can’t make clubs come and get me. I’ve just got to keep doing and I do and that’s score goals. Like I said, what will be will be.”
