We don’t want to jinx it, but we’re getting sneakily close to our fittest squad of the season. We may already be there. Long term absentees like Christopher Nkunku, Trevoh Chalobah and Ben Chilwell are back, and backups are recovering too.
Romeo Lavia looks like he’ll be the next player able to feature. He made a comically brief return at the turn of the year and since hasn’t been seen again. The club today posted a photo of him working in the gym at the training ground, generating a bit of buzz about a return.

We wouldn’t get too excited yet. He could still be a month or more away from being ready to start. He’s not played 90 minutes for 9 months.
Still, with our three main options fit and Cesare Casadei recalled, we just about have the depth in the middle, especially with the EFL Cup ending this weekend. Lavia’s return is a luxury, not a necessity right now.
