Ben Chilwell has said that he would love Mohamed Salah to play in the Carabao Cup final.
The England international is preparing to lead Chelsea out at Wembley as the Blues look to stop a run of five consecutive domestic final losses which includes defeats in both cup finals to Liverpool in 2022.
The full back areas will be key in Sundays showdown with Malo Gusto potentially up against Luis Diaz, Raheem Sterling taking on Andy Robertson and youngster Conor Bradley likely to be tasked with keeping Cole Palmer quiet.
Should Salah recover from injury Chilwell faces the prospect of trying to contain the prolific Egyptian but it is a challenge that the 27 year would find exciting.
Speaking to the Daily Mail he said: “I’d love him to play, you’re playing at Wembley in a cup final. If I’m playing against Salah, it would be exciting.”
Both teams find themselves in the midst of an injury crisis with many key players missing.
Chilwell has had his season hampered by a hamstring injury which has limited him to just 15 appearances in all competitions but will have a key role to play if Chelsea are going to contain Liverpool’s front line.
The League Cup was the first trophy won under Roman Abramovich’s ownership in 2005 and could also be the first won under Todd Boehly.
Boehly will be in attendance at Wembley on Sunday along with co owner Behdad Eghbali, and they will be desperate to see their expensively assembled team win.
