Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the press after Chelsea’s defeat, and he was asked about what his team needed to do to start delivering in these big games.
“We have to learn to compete at this level,” he admitted.
There were periods when the Blues looked up to it, but ultimately they quite embarrassingly faded in the spotlight. The more starting players that went off, the more vulnerable the Blues looked and the more devoid of experience.
It shouldn’t have been like that – by the end, our opposition team was just as inexperienced, if not more, than ours. This level is the EFL Cup final, not the Champions League final. These players should not be so thrown.
