Andrey Santos was left on the bench for today’s Strasbourg game against Brest. He didn’t make it onto the pitch at any point.
That makes it 4 games since the midfielder returned from international duty, and he’s started precisely 0 of them. He’s played a total of 23 minutes. The crazy part is that, given our issues in central midfield at the moment, he is almost guaranteed to have played more had he stayed at Chelsea.
The catastrophe is compounded by the context. Santos spent the first half of the season on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he couldn’t get into the team. He’s now moved to Strasbourg – and things have barely changed.
It’s another colossal red flag that there is no plan for these young players and no pathway. Not even a concept of how to make money from selling them, beyond just buying and hoping for the best. Those upstairs are really in the spotlight now.
