It’s been a bleak couple of weeks for Chelsea in general, but not without some bright spots.
The last month or so has seen Malo Gusto finally shake off his nagging injury issues and really start finding his feet.
We’ve seen flashes of potential since he arrived, but it’s largely been pretty interrupted by suspension and fitness issues, as well as the team’s general problems.
So it’s a pleasure to see him at his best, as he was against Brentford this week. Former Blues Scott Minto wasn’t the only person to notice his good form, but he did put it very neatly:
“Can I just mention again Malo Gusto, how well he’s doing,” Minto told talkSPORT.
“In a time where it’s very difficult to be a Chelsea football player right now, I think he’s been nothing short of sensational.
“The biggest compliment I can give to him is if Reece James is fit, I wouldn’t put him back in the side.”
Having a really good alternate for Reece James is a great situation to be in. If only we had the same solution on the left hand side…
We’re not sure we agree that we’d leave James out on his best day, but those are few and far between right now.
