Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says that he recently ‘killed’ his wife after a Chelsea game but thankfully, not literally!
I think he means that he killed her mood for that weekend because due to a Chelsea result, he cancelled their dinner plans for that weekend.
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea move forward with summer transfer plans regardless of Pochettino future with new left back and centre back names targeted (revealed in this)
Pochettino has revealed he cancelled a birthday meal out with his wife after Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Brentford on Saturday — preferring instead to watch the Asian Champions League with his coaching staff.
Pochettino said he was devastated after the Blues dropped two more points in the Premier League at the Gtech Community Stadium, telling his wife afterwards that he no longer wanted to go out for his birthday dinner.
It very much felt like that for Chelsea fans as well, and that pretty much sums up the feelings from this hugely frustrating and inconsistent season so far.
In words picked up by The Evening Standard, Pochettino said: “Saturday, after the Brentford game, the draw was like a loss. It killed my wife because I cancelled our dinner. I said I don’t want to go for a dinner, I wanted to stay at home.
“I was lucky because my coaching staff was with me then. We finished the day watching Real Madrid versus Valencia, had more wine, but nothing excitement. Only watching more football.
“Last few days I was watching all the games. I was not only watching the Champions League and the Championship. I was also watching the Asian Champions League — Al Hilal-Al Ittihad, Al Ain-Al Nassr. I was watching different games.”
Asked whether his wife was upset at cancelling their meal out, Pochettino said: “It’s true she’s not happy with me, but she know very well that the mood is not very good. When the mood is not good, it’s not easy for the family.
