Michael Owen was full of praise for Cole Palmer after his man of the match performance against Newcastle saying he “loves the way he plays.”
Palmer was once again Chelsea’s standout performer as the Blues secured a much needed 3-2 win to close the gap on the European places.
The 21 year scored and assisted against Eddie Howe’s men taking his tally in the Premier League to 11 goals and eight assists this season.
England manager Gareth Southgate was in attendance at Stamford Bridge and the former Manchester City man will have done his chances of going to the Euros this summer no harm with his performance.
Considering it’s Palmer’s first year of playing regularly the impact he has had on Chelsea is quite something and his seen him winning plaudits from far and wide.
Premier League great Owen praised the England internationals performance admitting he’s a big fan of the way he plays.
Speaking to Premier League Productions he said: “I like Cole Palmer a lot. He’s making a late run for England’s EURO squad, I think Gareth Southgate was there tonight and I’m sure he’ll have been watching him.”
“There’s so many good players in that position but he’s in great form and I love the way he plays. You can give the ball to him in tight spaces and that shows he’s got the trust of his team mates, that’s a great thing.”
Palmer will be back in action on Sunday as he aims to help Chelsea make the FA Cup semi finals and return to Wembley as the Blues take on Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.
