Harry Redknapp believes Mauricio Pochettino will have a big decision to make between Malo Gusto and Reece James.
Club captain James has really struggled with injuries this season and is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury suffered last December.
In his absence Gusto has really stepped up and established himself as a key player for Chelsea with some superb performances.
The biggest compliment for the 20 year old is the Blues aren’t missing Reece James as much as people thought they would.
Redknapp believes that once the England international is fit again he’s going to have a tough task getting his place in the side back.
After naming Gusto in his Premier League Team of the Week, Redknapp told Bet Victor: “He keeps getting better and better for Chelsea.”
“I thought he was the best player on the pitch against Newcastle. Whether it was Anthony Gordon or Miguel Almiron, they didn’t get a sniff.”
“You forget this lad’s age as well, he looks a really good prospect.”
“The best compliment I can give him is that they don’t really miss Reece James and Mauricio Pochettino might just have a big decision to make in that position.”
James is stepping up his rehab and has been out on the grass at Cobham recently doing individual training and there’s a chance he could feature again before the end of the season but Chelsea won’t rush the 24 year old back.
