Bayern Munich’s troubles finding a coach might finally come to an end, as it seems the Rekordmeister have settled on (drumroll please)… Burnley’s Vincent Kompany! A flurry of reports from almost every media outlet confirms that Kompany and Bayern have reached an agreement, reporting the reasons behind this move and the negotiations between all parties.
Fabrizio Romano
The ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano listed reasons as to why Bayern decided to move for Kompany:
Bayern board feels that Vincent Kompany has huge potential to become a top coach, trusting his vision and ideas.
Positive impact during initial calls made on Monday and Bayern want to get it sealed shortly.
⏳ Compensation fee to be sorted then all done.
According to Romano, it was an instant “yes” from Kompany, who didn’t need much convincing or deliberation.
It was a ‘yes’ after 5 minutes on Monday.
Sacha Tavolieri
A Belgian reporter says the deal could be done earlier than expected (via @iMiaSanMia):
Vincent Kompany and Bayern are expecting to complete the move today.
Apparently, per Tavolieri (via @iMiaSanMia), Kompany & Co. are already in Munich:
Vincent Kompany and members of his staff are currently in Munich to meet personally today with the Supervisory board – waiting for an agreement with Burnley. Kompany cleared out his office and said goodbye to Burnley yesterday. The English club is demanding €20m.
A certain Portuguese midfielder comes to mind…could this end the same way?
Kerry Hau
According to Sky’s Kerry Hau (via @iMiaSanMia), Kompany could be the first manager that the supervisory board didn’t outright veto:
In addition to the agreement with Kompany, Bayern’s supervisory board has approved the move yesterday. The final hurdle now is an agreement with Burnley. Negotiations between clubs are being intensified today. Kompany is eager for the opportunity and has convinced the people in charge during the talks.
Bild
German media outlet Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) shed light on how the negotiations between Burnley and Bayern could go…with a throwback to another manager Bayern failed to bring to the Allianz Arena:
With a contract running until 2028, Burnley are expected to demand a ‘high’ compensation fee for Vincent Kompany. Bayern were willing to pay up to €18m to Crystal Palace for Oliver Glasner – which didn’t go unnoticed at Burnley. Nevertheless, the English club won’t stand in Kompany’s way to leave.
Bild reporters Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl also report a possible discrepancy between the two clubs’ Kompany valuation (pun intended):
Bayern are offering €10m for Vincent Kompany. Burnley want €20m.
Falk also issued this report on his X account:
✅ FC Bayern & Vincent Kompany ✅
❇️ there was already a personal meeting between Kompany and Max Eberl, Head of Sport FC Bayern
❇️ both parties have agreed on the terms of a contract
❇️ now there are negotiations between FC Bayern and FC Burnley
❇️ Bayern offer €10 Mio transfer-fee, Burnley demand €20 Mio
