Bayern Munich attacker Jamal Musiala could have his eyes on a move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2025.
Rumors have been swirling for months that Musiala might be looking to move on from Bavaria at some point, but things could really come to a head next summer. After two straight years of instability — plus some uncertainty with next season — Bayern Munich has not exactly provided anyone with the idea that there is a plan in place for the future.
The interesting part of this is that Real Madrid might have to choose between Musiala and Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz:
Real Madrid boast one of the most top-notch midfield departments in football. Even though Toni Kroos will bid goodbye at the end of the season, Los Blancos still have another world-class veteran in Luka Modric while bonafide stars like Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Eduardo Camavinga.
But the Merengues are always on the lookout to further improve their roster and a new midfielder is expected to be on the agenda for 2025. Florian Wirtz has been touted as a possible target, but his compatriot and Bayern Munich sensation Jamal Musiala is also being tracked.
Now, journalist Carlos Carpio (via Ruben Martin Twitch) reports that Musiala himself desires to play for Real Madrid. As per the update, the idea of playing for a club like Real Madrid, with its great history, appeals to the German international more than a club like Manchester City.
As has been already reported, both Real Madrid and Manchester City are great admirers of Musiala and are keeping tabs on him with an eye on the future. Musiala’s current contract at Bayern Munich expires in 2026, meaning he could be available for a more affordable price next year provided he does not sign a new deal.
Considering that Real Madrid are also tracking Wirtz, it will be interesting to see whether they go after him or Musiala come summer of 2025.
FC Barcelona center-back Ronald Araújo has been rumored to be a primary target for Bayern Munich for months now, but the Uruguayan might have a surprise suitor — Aston Villa:
Barcelona center-back Ronald Araujo is a shock transfer target for Aston Villa, who secured a place in next season’s Champions League with a fourth-place Premier League finish.
Liverpool FC is reportedly leading Juventus in the hunt for Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners:
In terms of incomings, Liverpool now have the edge over Juventus in the race to sign midfielder Teun Koopmeiners as they can offer a more lucrative financial package to Atalanta.
Bayern Munich’s season might be over, but its offseason is already in full swing.
The coaching search could be over, the roster overhaul could be starting, and fans can only sit and wait for everything to play out.
What do we do in the meantime? Let’s discuss it all!
This is what we have on tap for the episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- Bayern Munich seems very close to hiring Vincent Kompany (where have we heard that before? Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick, Hansi Flick, Thomas Tuchel Roberto De Zerbi…) and why this time, fans should take it very seriously without feeling like Charlie Brown trying to kick that damn football.
- The positives of hiring Kompany — his playing experience, his ability to relate to players, his style preferences match Bayern Munich’s ideals.
- The negatives — no competitive big game experience, has never coached in major competitions for a high profile club, his locker room command might not jibe with the egos and personalities in Munich, and he just got RELEGATED. All that, plus Bayern Munich cannot afford to miss…again…on this hire.
- What’s the Weekend Warm-up’s verdict? Well, this might be a little risky.
- Aside of that, Chris Führich and Theo Hernandez could be on their way to Bavaria, while Jamal Musiala could be on his way out in 2025.
Jürgen Klinsmann has seen a lot over the course of his career, but the German does not recall seeing anything like this season for Bayer Leverkusen.
“I think it has been a Bundesliga season that nobody expected beforehand. With this run by Bayer Leverkusen and Xabi Alonso’s team, everybody was hugely surprised, positively surprised, and was taken on that ride in a certain way. Because every week you thought they were going to lose their first game, they are going to lose one. And then they equalise in the 97th minute, 98th minute, 100th minute or they scored the winning goal in the last second, all these things,” Klinsmann said. “They went on this trip and it seems not to end. But it has been such a breath of fresh air for Germany, for all the Bundesliga fans, for all the football fans in that country. After 10 years of having Bayern Munich winning the Bundesliga it was about time someone made a change.
“Bayer Leverkusen did that and did that in such a fantastic way, such an attacking style, full of energy, that they took along all the fans – maybe not the Bayern Munich fans, but the rest of the fans were all behind Bayer Leverkusen. They kept their fingers crossed for them.
Bayern Munich is still keeping an open line of communication with AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez in the event that the club needs to bring in someone for the position this summer:
Bayern Munich have held talks with AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez in case they need to sign a replacement for left-back Alphonso Davies, according to a report. Davies’ contract at the Allianz Arena is up in 2025 and talks have not progressed over a fresh deal, leading to mounting speculation that Bayern could sell him this summer so they don’t lose him for free 12 months down the line.
The Canada international has been extensively linked with Madrid, and Sky Sport Germany report that Bayern are preparing for his departure by lining up a move for Hernandez. The 26-year-old, whose brother Lucas previously played for Bayern, is said to be willing to move to Bavaria. Bayern expect Milan to demand €60m for Hernandez, though talks between the two clubs have not yet taken place.
Bayern will ultimately not move for Hernandez unless Davies leaves, while their new head coach will also have the power to veto a deal for the Frenchman. They are still searching for a successor for Thomas Tuchel and have already been rejected by Austria boss Ralf Rangnick, with former manager Hansi Flick now on their shortlist of contenders.
Doubt has been cast on Davies’ potential move to Madrid by the Spanish press in recent weeks due to Bayern’s high asking price, with Los Blancos potentially backing away from a summer move in order to sign him on a pre-contract agreement next season.
Davies was utilised as winger during Bayern’s Champions League defeat to Madrid earlier this week. He came off the bench to put his side ahead with a spectacular goal midway through the second half, before a late brace from Joselu ensured Madrid advanced to the final to face Borussia Dortmund.
The result ensured Bayern will end the season without winning a trophy for the first time since 2012.
Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka was there to support VfL Bochum in its fight against relegation:
Leon Goretzka supports his former club VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga relegation.
Unfortunately for Goretzka, VfL Bochum dropped a 3-0 decision to Fortuna Düsseldorf in the first leg of the relegation tie.
In about a week, Bayern Munich have become the laughing stock of the football world. Going all-in on trying to keep Thomas Tuchel for another year only to be rejected, and then finishing third in the Bundesliga after a devastating defeat to Hoffenheim — it’s the lowest point this club has seen in well over a decade.
Since Tuchel is now gone, it’s time to start blaming the people actually responsible for this circus. The board needs to answer for what is happening at this club.
In this episode, INNN and Samrin discuss the following:
- This is how the banter era starts.
- Tangent: Is Manuel Neuer finished? Probably not.
- How a lack of leadership at the top level has led to this current situation.
- Why people should have seen this coming.
- How this current coaching circus makes it even harder to find a new coach.
- What trying to keep Thomas Tuchel at the last minute says about the board.
- Why doesn’t Bayern Munich want to bring back Hansi Flick?
- Discussing the pros and cons of a potential Flick return.
- Some other final candidates, like Erik ten Hag (ew), Allegri (eww), and Mourinho (ewww).
