The fitness coach at Bayern Munich, Dr. Holger Broich has seemingly faced criticism due to Bayern’s injury crisis. Thomas Tuchel, meanwhile, seemingly a messiah, escapes without blame for overplaying Leroy Sané, Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane while underplaying the likes of Thomas Müller and Kim Min-jae. There is only so much Dr. Broich, who was the team’s fitness coach during the worst of COVID-19, could do to prevent players playing nearly 90 minutes every three days from suffering from some wear and tear.
According to @kicker, via @iMiaSanMia, this is what Dr. Broich had to say:
Dr. Holger Broich on being criticized for Bayern’s injury crisis: “The facts are clear: We have not performed well this year and have had too many injuries. But to now single out one man and point the finger at him, I think is very disappointing. Where’s the responsibility of the… pic.twitter.com/LqcJkjqn0q

Here is the tweet in full:
Dr. Holger Broich on being criticized for Bayern’s injury crisis: “The facts are clear: We have not performed well this year and have had too many injuries. But to now single out one man and point the finger at him, I think is very disappointing. Where’s the responsibility of the entire team, the coaches, the doctors, the physiotherapists? I find it very disappointing to now tie everything to my name. That is defamation. If I am the only one to take the blame for the many injuries, that is too easy and too cheap, we are a team. A bad season as well as a good one is not the fault of one person alone. Why is everything now being focused on one person? Why is only one person being criticized?”
It is indeed unfair to criticize Dr. Broich especially when Tuchel was not mentioned in the same sentence. Bayern Munich currently has a lot of fixing to do if Dr. Broich is indeed being blamed for a crisis that was at least partially on the former coach.
