FC Barcelona star İlkay Gündoğan has played in many memorable games during his career, but Germany’s 2-0 win over Denmark at EURO 2024 is definitely one that stands out.
“It was a game to remember. It was kind of weird, to be honest. A very tight match, and we got a bit lucky. Denmark defended very well throughout most of the game, but we deserved the victory,” Gündoğan said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “It was a great atmosphere. When the anthem was playing, you could really feel that the crowd was ready to support us. I didn’t expect anything less from Dortmund, to be honest. It’s always great to come back here, and now we are looking forward to Stuttgart again.”
Gündoğan was not the only person who noted that the crowd energize the squad. Even coach Julian Nagelsmann could feel the energy in the stadium. Clearly, the vibe in the building was one that rubbed off on Germany in a positive way.
