Former Bayern Munich manager and current German national team boss Julian Nagelsmann might have had to turn away a few times throughout his squad’s 2-0 victory over Denmark.
It was a crazy up-and-down affair that saw some terrific play, followed by agonizing misses. In the end, though, the Germans did enough to get the win.
“It was a wild game. The first 20 minutes were the best of the tournament, then the thunderstorm, then we thought we were behind and then we went ahead. Kai did very well from the spot. The stadium pushed us a lot,” said Nagelsmann (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “When we switched to a back three, we were much more stable. There were times in the first half where we were unstable, and Eriksen found spaces. We were much better after half-time, and it’s always good to keep a clean sheet.”
Nagelsmann also came away really impressed by Denmark.
”It wasn’t an easy game. Denmark did very well and we were in a good phase of the match [early on]. We tried to force things, perhaps too much. Yet through the adversity – like against Switzerland – we came through, with help from the crowd. I’m proud of the team; they’re beginning to realise how good they really are,” Nagelsmann told UEFA.com.
