Man United are one of the sides keen on signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United this summer.
Manchester United are yet to make a big splash in the transfer market this summer, though Dan Ashworth is now in place, so that could be about to change.
A defender and striker feels like the two priority positions right now, though United are doing their due diligence in other areas of the field, including left-wing…
According to CaughtOffside, United are interested in signing 23-year-old Premier League left-winger, Anthony Gordon.
The Newcastle United man is apparently ‘wanted’ by the Reds, as well as Liverpool and Chelsea.
It’s stated that Liverpool are the frontrunners as things stand, though Red Devils interest in Gordon is certainly somewhat eye-opening.
My first thought is that it could give some credibility to the rumours which suggested United are open to cashing in on Marcus Rashford if the right offer comes the club’s way. Replacing him with genuine quality, like Gordon, would make total sense. It would be ironic if the Newcastle man not only replaced Rashford in the England squad, but also at club level too.
I cannot help but feel that this is a major longshot, though. Gordon is a Liverpool fan and I’d be surprised to see him close the door on a move to his boyhood club, by joining their fiercest rivals.
He’s an excellent player, there’s no doubt about that. This just seems like a media outlet dropping United’s name in there in order to generate extra interest in the story.
