While many other clubs have waited for the 2024 European Championship to conclude in order to conclude transfer business, Bayern Munich have not wasted any time in sealing multiple transfers. Hiroki Itō, João Palhinha and Michael Olise were all signed and confirmed as new Bayern players before the Euros had finished, while new contracts for Aleksandar Pavlovic and Josip Stanišić were quickly arranged and signed.
So what is Christoph Freund’s assessment, captured by @iMiaSanMia, on all this?
“All in all, not much has happened yet, no doubt because of the Euros. That will increase in the coming weeks,” said Freund. “It’s generally always good when you put your squad together as early as possible. We’re very pleased that we’re well set and are not under pressure. That was our big goal.”
Freund, again captured by @iMiaSanMia, does indicate that he sees the business already done as priority transfers: “We want to strengthen the squad. The transfers we’ve been able to complete so far were ones we really wanted. We’ll see what the coming weeks bring. It was important for us that we could get a few done early.”
Hmm. Perhaps we can look forward to seeing dozen or so new signings in 2025 if he keeps up this kind of workload.
