Could Liverpool FC make a shocking play for Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich? It looks like the Premier League club could be looking to take advantage of the Germany international’s impending free agency:
Paris Saint-Germain have cooled their interest in Joshua Kimmich, likely handing Liverpool and other clubs a major boost in the pursuit of the Bayern Munich midfielder.Sources with a close understanding of the situation have confirmed to CaughtOffside that PSG previously monitored Kimmich due to his contract situation, but it’s now felt that the Ligue 1 giants are satisfied with their midfield options after the recent signing of Joao Neves from Benfica.
Although the Kimmich to PSG talk has come up again recently, it is now felt that other suitors such as Liverpool, and possibly others still to come from the Premier League, would have the advantage in the race to sign the Germany international as he edges closer to becoming a free agent.
Kimmich will be out of contract at Bayern next summer unless a new deal can be agreed before then, and that remains a possibility, even if there are no concrete updates on those talks for the moment. CaughtOffside understands Liverpool remain in the market for a midfielder, having tried and failed to sign Martin Zubimendi in the summer as the Real Sociedad star turned down an offer from the Merseyside giants.
Zubimendi is still appreciated by Arne Slot and other key figures at Liverpool, but Kimmich is also a name who has come up as he could be a superb and affordable option for the club. PSG still also like Kimmich, but for now he is not considered a priority, and the only way that would be likely to change would be if one of the club’s other current midfielders were to leave.
Despite interest from clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City, FC Barcelona, and Real Madrid, Kimmich has done exceptionally well for himself this season so far — if he is hoping to coax a new deal from Bayern Munich.
Kimmich has been great and is proving that he is up to the task of manning a spot in the central midfield. However, some reports indicate that Kimmich was unhappy with the lack of backing he received from the club higher-ups during Thomas Tuchel’s tenure.
It feels like Kimmich will re-up in Bavaria, but those bad feelings on the perceived lack of support might make Bayern Munich have to pay a little more to keep Kimmich than it probably would like to shell out.
It seems doubtful Kimmich will accept a pay cut in what will likely be his last, big contract.
Benjamin Šeško is one of the Bundesliga most exciting strikers and FC Barcelona might want to pluck the Slovenian star out of Germany:
Barcelona would love to sign Haaland, but they are ready to switch their attentions to RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško.
Welcome to episode four of the Bundesliga Rundown with Marcus Iredahl!
In this episode, we dive into Matchday 4, where Stuttgart bounced back from their midweek Champions League defeat to thrash Borussia Dortmund at the Neckarstadion.
Marcus also takes a closer look at Union Berlin’s new project under Danish manager Bo Svensson, plus a special Bundesliga spotlight that will warm your heart!
This week, Marcus will also cover:
- Why Marcus’s early Stuttgart prediction might make him look silly — apologies to Sebastian Hoeneß!
- Is Nuri Sahin the next underwhelming Dortmunder junge at the helm?
- Could Pellegrino Matarazzo be the first Bundesliga manager to get the sack in the 2024/25 season?
- …and much more!
FC Barcelona is still reeling from the season-ending injury to Marc-André ter Stegen and could be looking toward former Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny, who retired over the summer:

If Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola extends his deal, he wants to bring in Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz:
If Pep Guardiola decides to stay at Man City beyond 2025, he would like the club to acquire Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern Munich are playing some of the best football we have seen in years. The club just got done scoring twenty goals in a single week and allowed ZERO shots (not shots on goal, just shots) against Werder Bremen. Vincent Kompany is proving the doubters wrong, and at the same time providing a damning indictment of the brand of football employed by former coach Thomas Tuchel. However, major challenges loom over the horizon.
In this episode, INNN and Cyler discuss the following:
- A deep dive into the differences between Thomas Tuchel and Vincent Kompany.
- Why Kompany’s players seem to suddenly be “playing better” in the new system.
- The curious case of Joshua Kimmich — how Tuchel gaslit an entire fanbase.
- Why Vincent Kompany’s relegation at Burnley may have set him up for this current level of success.
- Setting a baseline — our expectations for upcoming games against Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa, and FC Barcelona.
- Why those three games matter.
- How should Kompany line up his team? Does João Palhinha deserve a chance against Leverkusen?
- INNN is forced to shut up about Thomas Müller (for one episode, don’t get used to it).
- What is the major concern heading into the Leverkusen game? INNN and Cyler disagree.
- What would it mean for Kompany if he fails to beat Leverkusen?
Manchester United is poised and ready to throw itself into the mix for Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies:
Manchester United reportedly have an interest in the potential transfer of Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, even if it’s expected to be difficult to beat Real Madrid to his signature.
According to Give Me Sport, Man Utd are one of the clubs looking at Davies as they’d like to sign a new left-back, with others like Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez also on their radar, though when it comes to Davies, Real Madrid are seen as the clear favoured destination for the 23-year-old.
If the Red Devils could pull off a repeat of what they managed with Leny Yoro this summer, then that would be more great business for the club, but Davies has been so strongly linked with Real Madrid for so long now, one imagines they must have a clear upper-hand in this race, even if the world of the football transfer market is unpredictable and can change quickly.
Davies might not be the most realistic target for United, but at the same time it’s easy to see why he’s on their radar as he would be such a clear upgrade on the injury-prone and inconsistent Luke Shaw. Someone like Kerkez would also surely be worth looking at, and MUFC will probably also have a few other names on their radar.
Bayern Munich stars Michael Olise and Harry Kane were named to the Europe’s Top 5 Leagues Team of the Week produced by WhoScored.com:
Moreover, Olise was named as the Player of the Week from that group:
Bayern Munich put a 5-0 beatdown on what had been a solid Werder Bremen side (it remains to be seen how it handles this kind of decimation) on a day where we might have learned a little more about how Vincent Kompany is planning to move forward with this team.
Let’s dive right in and discuss a variety of topic on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:
- A look at the starting XI.
- A rundown of the substitutes and scoring.
- Bayern Munich is just obliterating teams right now.
- At one point, Derek Rae asked Stewart Robson to assess the difference between Vincent Kompany’s version of Bayern Munich vs. Thomas Tuchel’s edition. Let’s discuss that.
- What do we make of all of this? Find out!
