Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry knows his squad will face a challenge from Aston Villa in the Champions League, but also feels as if Vincent Kompany has the Bavarians ready.
“Aston Villa is a very strong team that has recently been very consistent under Unai Emery and strong physically. It will be a very exhausting, very difficult game. They also defend very well – so it won’t be easy tomorrow,” said Gnabry (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “The coach demands a certain desire, a high level of intensity, so that we don’t give the opponent any chances. That’s what sets us apart, it feels great that we are so dominant again. We haven’t been able to do that so well over long stretches in recent years”
Gnabry has been one of the players who seems to have experienced a resurgence under Kompany. The attacker acknowledged that it had less to do with his position on the field than being healthy and being a part of an offensive machine.
“There isn’t much change in my position. Our game is very good right now, very dominant. It feels good. We want to have as much possession as possible, be efficient up front. So we can’t complain at the moment,” said Gnabry. “The past few weeks and months have been much better for me than the end of the second half of the season. I feel good this season, I had a long break and unfortunately missed the EUROs, which was bitter. My body is fine now and I’m looking forward to playing a lot again.”
