In terms of business both in and out, few clubs were busier than West Ham in the summer transfer window.
There is no doubt West Ham desperately needed a major overhaul.
Julen Lopetegui inherited the smallest and second oldest squad in the Premier League.
Alongside technical director Tim Steidten, he went about completely transforming the squad.
A mammoth turnover of 21 players – almost an entire 25-man squad’s worth of comings and goings – ensued.
Twelve players were shipped out although the likes of James Ward-Prowse, Nayef Aguerd and Maxwel Cornet are only on initial loans.
West Ham spent over £155m signing nine new players. Although it was actually 10 if you include hot prospect midfielder Mahamadou Kante who will come to the club next summer after being loaned back to Paris FC.
The likes of Max Kilman, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Crysencio Summerville and more recently Jean-Clair Todibo have impressed so far.
Some West Ham fans have been critical of two big decisions, though.
Firstly the call Steidten made to bring in ageing and injury-prone striker Niclas Fullkrug.
Two West Ham stars named in 10 worst signings
Many Hammers supporters wanted to see the club sign a young, pacy and dynamic striker who could lead the line for West Ham for years to come.
West Ham refused to pay Villa’s £40m plus asking price for Jhon Duran and the rest is history as far as that decision is concerned.
Meanwhile Fullkrug has missed the last five games through injury and has no clear return date with West Ham coy over rumours the 31-year-old may even need an operation.
Others feel it was a mistake to let Ward-Prowse leave too given he provided 18 goals and assists in his debut season.
Now two West Ham stars have been named among the 10 worst signings of the summer by a new Italian report.
West Ham beat Italian giants Juventus to Todibo in the summer.
Juve were also reportedly interested in Fullkrug too but he joined the Hammers instead for £23.5m.
There has been some banter back and forth between West Ham and Juve’s media teams since.
Now one the club’s leading sites Tutto Juve has ranked the 10 worst Premier League signings of the summer.
And two Hammers players make the list.
A former Hammer is also included among the worst 10 signings.
Italian site singles out Hammers duo Fullkrug and Ward-Prowse
According to the site Fullkrug is the seventh worst summer signing in the entire Premier League.
And Ward-Prowse is just behind him in eighth.
So it seems West Ham got one wrong and one right as far as Tutto Juve are concerned.
“In the Premier League, the ranking of the worst purchases of the market: the first place in this ranking goes to the Dutch central defender Matthijs de Ligt, one of the best purchases of Manchester United last summer, but whose performances have been far from those that could be expected under Ten Hag,” the report states.
“In second place is Joao Felix, who lived almost on tiptoe his second experience at Chelsea after leaving Atletico Madrid.”
Kalvin Phillips – who had a shocker for Ipswich against West Ham before the international break – is named as the fifth worst signing of the summer.
Phillips joined the Tractor Boys on loan following a dismal spell at West Ham last season.
Forest fans have been heavily critical of Ward-Prowse, labelling him a terrible signing.
Fullkrug needs to be given a chance before he is labelled a flop.
But the fact a player whose career has been dogged by injuries has already missed more than half West Ham’s games through injury is hardly a great start.
