Julen Lopetegui is all set to take his West Ham United team into battle against Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham today.
The Premier League clash between West Ham and Tottenham will be a vitally important one for both teams.
Before the game, Ange Postecoglou proved that he understood the importance of the match, unlike Julen Lopetegui, with his comments highlighting what it means to the supporters.
At least we have someone on the pitch who gets it. Max Kilman rallied the troops yesterday, with his comments ahead of the Spurs clash.
We’ve actually been better away from the London Stadium than at home this season, and we’ve won three times on their patch since 2017.
With that in mind, there’s no reason why the players shouldn’t fancy their chances today.
However, the West Ham fans aren’t quite convinced about Lopetegui just yet. The Spaniard is yet to impress in East London, but what does Ange think of him?
Ange Postecoglou makes Julen Lopetegui prediction
The former Real Madrid, Spain, Sevilla and Wolves manager is still under intense pressure, despite the 4-1 win over Ipswich Town.
A defeat against Tottenham today would pile the pressure on his shoulders even more.
However, Postecoglou thinks that a bright future awaits the Hammers fans under Lopetegui.
Postecoglou spoke to reporters ahead of the game yesterday, and made a bold prediction about the Hammers head coach, as quoted by Football.London.
He said, “I’m always intrigued by managers taking that path. He’s a top quality coach. He’s starting to build the team he wants at West Ham and it’ll be exciting for the supporters.“
That’s quite the prediction.
The football has been anything but exciting so far this season, although there were plenty of positive signs during our win over Ipswich Town.
The bottom line is that Julen Lopetegui needs plenty of time at West Ham before he’s judged fairly.
And it remains to be seen as to whether or not Postecoglou’s prediction on the Hammers boss comes true.
The match today will be a big sign of how far we’ve come as a team.
Will the players stand up and be counted, and get a big result against Spurs? Or will they fold like a cheap suit under the pressure of a London derby?
Only time will tell – roll on kick-off…
