One West Ham United player wouldn’t have been too happy after our 2-1 victory over Manchester United at the London Stadium on Sunday.
West Ham earned a crucial three Premier League points against Manchester United at the London Stadium on Sunday, and the result may well have been enough to save Julen Lopetegui‘s job.

The same can’t be said of Erik ten Hag, after Man United fired the Dutchman on Monday as a result of their 2-1 defeat to the Hammers.
It was a joyous occasion for West Ham on Sunday, with Crysencio Summerville’s tunnel celebration a sign of just how much that win over Man United meant.
There were some very poor performances on display as well though, and Lopetegui will definitely now know his best team.
One Hammer in particular will be fearing for his future at the London Stadium after the events that unfolded on Sunday afternoon…
Alphonse Areola finished at West Ham
Lukasz Fabianski replaced Alphonse Areola in the starting XI for our clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
And the experienced Polish stopper put in a performance so good that I think it may well have earned him a new contract with the Hammers.
As excited as Fabianski will be after his fine performance, Areola will at the opposite end of the spectrum.
Is it too much to suggest that the 6ft 5in stopper’s Hammers career could come to an end in the summer of 2025? I actually don’t think it is…
Signed for £11 million from PSG in the summer of 2022 after a season-long loan spell at the London Stadium, Areola has never hit the heights that were initially expected of him.
In my opinion, the Frenchman has become somewhat of a liability with his inability to command his penalty area, especially from crosses, and his poor technique with the ball at his feet.
I’m not saying that Fabianski excels when in possession of the football, but he has so much more authority than Areola when balls are whipped into our box.
I feel so much better when the 39-year-old is between the sticks rather than Areola.
That’s a sad indictment of where the 31-year-old is at right now.
I actually think that Alphonse Areola could well be finished at West Ham, and I fully expect Lopetegui to go out and sign a new goalkeeper in the summer – one who’s good with both his hands and feet.
