A new claim has come to light that will really interest the West Ham United fans, with Ruben Amorim closing in on the Manchester United job
Ruben Amorim is the favourite to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, after the Hammers’ 2-1 win over the Red Devils spelled the end of the Dutchman’s reign at Old Trafford.
In fairness, West Ham have our own problems despite the victory over Man United at the London Stadium, so I won’t be gloating too much!
The victory eased the pressure on Julen Lopetegui, but he is still a man who is under intense scrutiny from the fans, media and the Hammers owners of course.
Things would have been so different for us this season, had we appointed the exceptional Amorim instead of Lopetegui, I’m sure of it.
Now the 39-year-old seems destined to replace Erik ten Hag at Man United (BBC).
To be honest, when we missed out on the Portuguese back in May, it was somewhat easier to swallow because it was claimed that he rejected us.
However, it appears as though that might not have actually been the case.
West Ham snubbed Ruben Amorim, as Manchester United close in
A huge twist has just come to light.
It was only six months ago when Amorim met with the Hammers hierarchy about potentially replacing David Moyes at the London Stadium.
However, he apologised to the Sporting fans for meeting with West Ham officials midway through a title race, after failing to agree terms with the East London outfit, or at least that’s what was reported at the time.
Now a brand new claim has emerged…
According to a sensational new claim from talkSPORT, Amorim had actually agreed terms to replace David Moyes at West Ham.
However, David Sullivan allegedly got cold feet over paying Amorim’s £8.3 million release clause, and was hesitant to put pen to paper on bringing him to the London Stadium because of the sheer volume of staff the 39-year-old wanted to bring with him.
So it seems like the Hammers snubbed Amorim, rather than the other way around.
What a terrible, terrible mistake that was, if true of course.
Amorim is one of the very best and most talented young managers on the planet, and he deploys an incredibly exciting brand of football.
He’s a winner as well, having guided Sporting to two league titles.
I have to be clear here – I do think that Lopetegui deserves a lot more time to prove himself.
However, you are deluded if the you think Amorim wouldn’t be getting a tune out of this group of players right now.
The 39-year-old Portuguese is a superior manager to Lopetegui in every single sense.
West Ham really messed up by not appointing Ruben Amorim, and now he seems set to take over Manchester United…sigh.
