West Ham united have a tremendously talented group of players at the London Stadium right now.
Julen Lopetegui made nine new signings for West Ham in the summer – many of them top-class footballers who are ready to make a big impact for the here and now.
However, the Hammers head coach has failed to get his new-look squad to gel just yet, and he has received criticism from some circles for his recruitment.
Tim Steidten is in the same boat – the German is the man in charge of transfers at the London Stadium after all.
I still believe that Lopetegui deserves plenty more time to turn things around. The win over Manchester United was a hugely important one, and now he needs to build on that.
It must be said as well, the Spaniard did bring some really good players to West Ham in the summer, and it will surely only be a matter of time before they all start gelling together.
One signing we made has been earning rave reviews over the past few days…
West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville an ‘extraordinary’ talent
Crysencio Summerville announced himself at West Ham with his scintillating substitute appearance against Manchester United on Sunday.
Lopetegui explained after the game that the only reason why he didn’t start the 23-year-old was so that he could unleash him on a tired Man United side in the second-half.
Summerville is clearly ready to make a big impact for the Hammers now, and he has earned huge praise from his teammate Max Kilman.
The Athletic have been speaking to one of Summerville’s former coaches, Claudio Braga, who coached the Hammers winger during his loan spell with Dutch side Dordrecht in the 2018-19 season.
And Braga absolutely raved about the effervescent attacker.
“West Ham fans are going to love him,” he said.
Braga continued, “He can do extraordinary things, that’s what makes him unique. Opposition defenders will hate marking him. Give him the ball, it doesn’t matter if there are two or three opponents, he will find a way to get past them. He is on the path to becoming a world-class talent.”
I have to say, I’ve been pleading with Lopetegui to start Summerville since we signed him.
I was a huge fan of the Dutchman during his time with Leeds, and I truly believe he possesses exactly what we lack sometimes in the final third, what with his explosive pace and incredible movement.
Crysencio Summerville will go on to become a top star for West Ham in the Premier League, I have absolutely no doubts about that.
And I fully expect Julen Lopetegui to give the winger the sustained run of starts now that he rightfully deserves.
