Daniel Kretinsky was a seriously rich man already, but now the West Ham co-owner has taken things to a whole new level entirely.
And the West Ham fans should be extremely excited at the prospect of what lies ahead.
Daniel Kretinsky and David Sullivan are the current co-owners of the Hammers, holding around a 65.8% interest in the club between them.
Kretinsky had a net worth of around £7.5 billion, when he completed his acquisition of 27% shares of West Ham at the end of 2021.
That dropped slightly over the past few years, but now he’s made a big move in the money stakes.
He has taken a real hands on approach to ownership in the past, and actually received strong criticism when he entered the referee’s dressing room at half-time during Sparta Prague’s 3-1 win over Brno in 2023.
He will definitely have to take a more professional approach if he ever does become the leading man at the London Stadium.
Despite the fact he takes a back seat when it comes to all things West Ham, maybe it won’t be long before he takes the next step by acquiring full control of the club.
West Ham fans should be excited about Daniel Kretinsky news
Sullivan remains the majority shareholder, but that could well change, especially after the latest update coming out of the Czech Republic.
According to a claim from Tydenik Euro, Kretinsky has nearly doubled his wealth from £7.2 billion to £13 billion, due to profit dividends from his energy companies.
That is some serious wealth isn’t it, and it puts him just £2 billion short of being inside the top 100 richest people on the planet.
Now all we need is for Kretinsky to start investing some of his incredible wealth into the club, and I don’t just mean on player recruitment.
Our Rush Green training complex, if you can call it that, is in urgent need of improvement.
Meanwhile, the Hammers don’t own the London Stadium, and that has to change if we are to ever make our home arena a real fortress.
I wonder if Daniel Kretinsky could soon make a concrete move to complete a full takeover at West Ham soon.
Don’t get me wrong, David Sullivan has backed Julen Lopetegui, and David Moyes before him, to the hilt recently.
But Kretinsky’s wealth could take us to a whole new level entirely as a club.
The Hammers are worth around $900 million (£700 million) according to Forbes, so the 49-year-old will have to be ready to splash some serious cash if he wants to buy us outright.
However, with his new found mega wealth, £700 million would be a drop in the ocean for the multi-billionaire Czech businessman.
