Nottingham Forest’s form since their promotion back to the top tier has been nothing short of phenomenal. Unlike the other two promoted teams, Forest are flying high currently sitting in seventh place in the Premier League with 16 points. Last time out they travelled away to Leicester and won 3-1. Much of this has success been down to their player recruitment.
The strength in depth of their squad is truly fabulous and West Ham would be well advised to be very wary of some of those ‘squad’ players who haven’t yet made an impact who will be itching to get a start with several first team players currently sidelined for the game tomorrow.
In the summer window, Forest signed Elliot Anderson, full back Nikola Milenkovic, Ramón Sosa, centre-back Morato and David Carmo. James Ward-Prowse also joined on a season long loan from West Ham but cannot play against his parent club.
One other recruit, in fact, was a target for West Ham United in previous transfer windows. Jota Silva, yet to start a game at Forest, came on as a substitute against Chelsea and almost won the game – thwarted by a stunning last-minute save by Roberto Sanchez. According to Nottinghamforest.news: “once again he was lively and caused chaos to the home defenders.” As a left sided, right-footed player he will come up against Wan Bissaka and Todibo – so it will be a very interesting matchup if he does get onto the pitch.
Joining Forest from Vitória Guimarães SC in the summer window, Jota Silva has seriously impressed watchers and is now desperate for a start under Nuno Espirito Santo. After his tweetX following that game at Stamford Bridge which ended 1-1, Jota Silva’s team mate’s Brazilian Centre Back Morato – himself a deadline day recruit – replied ‘You Monster- Come On!’
Underestimate this squad and indeed their manager at our peril. This will be a very challenging outing for Julen Lopetegui.
