West Ham nemesis and pantomime villain Richard Keys has finally lost the plot by suggesting Frank Lampard as a replacement for Julen Lopetegui.
The former Sky man can’t seem to resist taking digs at the Hammers from afar, whether it’s labeling the club’s director of football Tim Steidten a “sneaky weasel who can’t be trusted” or goading Irons executive Karren Brady with outdated language.
Keys has been one of the more vocal West Ham critics in the media since his mate David Moyes was not given a new contract at the London Stadium. From a Hammers perspective, it certainly seems he’s been rooting for failure, and once again, he seized the opportunity yesterday to stick the boot in.
Speaking about the club and Lopetegui’s recent troubles, Keys remarked, “West Ham’s problems are all of their own making, and I don’t have an ounce of sympathy for them.” The disgraced former mainstream presenter further prophesised, “It’ll get worse there before it gets better.”
“They’re certainly going in another direction since forcing David Moyes out. It’s just not the one they wanted to go in.”
His suggestion that Lampard could succeed Lopetegui as West Ham coach is either the outlandish notion of someone completely detached from the game or, more likely, another attempt to throw mud in the direction of East London.
