Bayern Munich tried and tried to get in behind Benfica’s defense and had a torrid time of doing it until Leroy Sané and Harry Kane worked together to let in Jamal Musiala to head in the winning goal. The 21-year-old has now scored three headed goals in his last five games for Bayern, something that hasn’t registered to him yet.
“I don’t know what’s happening with my head at the moment”, Musiala quipped (DAZN via @iMiaSanMia). I’m just trying to get in good positions in the box. That’s worked well recently. Hopefully there will be more goals”.
It has worked well, well enough that it has earned him the Man of the Match award. If this game ended in a draw, Kim Min-jae would be the touted recipient of the award. Fortunately for the Bavarians, their patience was rewarded and got another win after two Champions League losses on the bounce.
