Tottenham Hotspur have been exploring possibilities of bringing in a new midfielder in the 2025 transfer interval as Daniel Levy looks to build on the success that the Lilywhites enjoyed in the recently concluded summer window, and the chiefs at Hotspur have identified AC Milan maestro Tijjani Reijnders as a possible target.
The North Londoners failed to replace the veteran departures of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso in the offseason, and Levy is looking to right his wrongs when the transfer window opens once again.
In Reijnders, the Lilywhites can bring in a player who is not only capable offensively but also has physical presence in the middle of the park. Spurs play a vertical brand of football under Australian head coach Ange Postecoglou, and you would love a midfielder with the tenacity and technical ability of the Dutchman.
Tottenham suffer Reijnders blow
That being said, Spurs are not the only club interested in his signatures, with Premier League heavyweights Manchester City also vying for a possible move for the 26-year-old midfielder.
While the English top-tier duo registers their interest in the player, his current employers are looking to tie him down to a new deal, per Calcio Mercato.
Any possible contract extension with AC Milan would come as a big blow to Tottenham, as this would possibly rule out any January or summer move for the Dutch midfielder.
For Spurs, it is important to ensure that they bring in a new (perhaps two) midfielder in the upcoming winter transfer window to ensure that Ange has needed quality in depth in the middle of the park for the second half of the season.
