Jose Mourinho taking over at West Ham? Despite his reputation for defensive football, we’d all be up for some of his box office antics for a while wouldn’t we?
Since Julen Lopetegui took over at West Ham, I’ve been yearning for someone like Jose Mourinho to come in and make us an exciting football club again.
Not only have the Hammers been terrible to watch, but Lopetegui’s dull as dishwater press conferences are beginning to really grate on me now as well.
And Mourinho is the man we need to fix all of that as far as I’m concerned.
The 61-year-old is box office in every way, and his antics this week have hit the headlines in a very big way.
Mourinho was heavily linked with taking over as the new West Ham manager in the summer, but he moved out to Turkey to fill the Fenerbahce hot-seat in the end.
And the former Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Porto boss has already been making waves.
His eight-minute rant in midweek in response to a poor refereeing performance out in Turkey proved that he is the best there is at commanding attention from the press.
Players respect him greatly as well, and in my eyes, there is no better candidate to come into West Ham and breath some life back into the club.
So with that in mind, the latest report sharing which club he wants to manage next is extremely interesting to read.
West Ham fans have to see what job Jose Mourinho wants next
The experienced gaffer has achieved more than most during his time in football management.
His haul of eight league titles and two Champions League winner’s medals tells its own story.
Despite what some people say about him, he’s still one of the best around. His football isn’t enthralling, but his touchline persona certainly is, and he gets results, that goes without saying.
He has a certain kind of aura – an alluring and enchanting personality that can be replicated by few managers in the game, if any at all.
So where could he end up if he does indeed leave Fenerbahce at some point in the near future?
According to the Guardian, Mourinho wants the Newcastle United job, should Eddie Howe be moved on.
That’s a hammer blow to West Ham as far as I’m concerned.
I genuinely think he’s the perfect man to take us to another level over the next two years, what with his experience and relentless winnertivity.
He would command instant respect from some of the prima donnas in our squad right now – something that Lopetegui is quite clearly unable to do.
I also firmly believe that Jose Mourinho would get West Ham back into the mix for the European places.
However, it’s a moot point now it seems. The 61-year-old apparently has his heart set on the Newcastle job, so it’s game over for us.
