So it seems like West Ham United could bring Edin Terzic back to East London.
Edin Terzic has been mooted as a potential replacement for Julen Lopetegui, with West Ham having struggled badly under the Spaniard so far this season.
It has been claimed that the former Dortmund boss is one of the lead candidates identified by the Hammers owners to come in and take the reins from Lopetegui.
There is so much doom and gloom at the London Stadium right now, and it really shouldn’t be that way so soon into Lopetegui’s tenure.
The West Ham head coach has struggled to implement his ideas, and his new signigns have not yet gelled together.
It has been claimed that the 58-year-old could be sacked if his Hammers side fail to produce a ‘convincing performance’ against Everton today.
And if that does happen, Terzic may well be the man for the job.
Edin Terzic ready for West Ham return
The former Hammers coach is currently out of work.
That will obviously appeal to David Sullivan, and if Lopetegui is sacked anytime soon, it seems like Terzic could be the man to replace the Spaniard.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, the German is open to the idea of taking over at the London Stadium.
The Evening Standard have described Terzic as ‘remarkable’, and they’re spot on.
The 42-year-old is a very good manager, and he proved that during his time with Borussia Dortmund.
He narrowly missed out on winning the Bundesliga title in the 2022/23 season and took Dortmund all the way to the Champions League final last term.
Don’t get me wrong, he can set up defensively at times, but there’s nothing wrong with that. I would actually love to see us defend properly as a unit.
However, his teams have mostly played quick, progressive and entertaining football on the whole.
Edin Terzic also has experience of managing extremely big egos during his time in charge of Dortmund, and that would definitely come in handy at West Ham.
I believe the 42-year-old would be a very good option for the Hammers. Whether the board are prepared to sack Lopetegui just yet remains to be seen though.
The outcome of the West Ham vs Everton clash will have a huge bearing on that.
