Further stories coming out of media this morning would indicate if true that Mohammed Kudus‘ plans for a winter move away from West Ham – most recently suggested as being the player eyeing up a move to Arsenal – are likely to stall.
The 24 year old Ghanaian had been reported as telling he agent to get him out of London Stadium in the January window to Liverpool, with Arsenal reportedly interested too.
However the release clause of £85 million in his contract is not ‘live’ until the summer so it’d take a pretty special bid to tempt the West Ham board to sell. Arsenal were rumoured last week to be readying a £90 million bid- news this morning from footballinsider247.com would suggest this is now on the back burner at least until the summer window.
Quoting their ‘transfer correspondent’ Pete O Rourke, the site claim:“A move for Kudus is unlikely to occur in the January transfer window,” but “Arsenal could look to push to try and sign him in the summer transfer window to bolster their options for next season”.
Much depends what happens at London Stadium between now and then, to be frank: Lopetegui’s situation within the club and any decision about his successor is just as likely to either calm or supercharge the Kudus’ camp as far as any ‘wanting out’ agitation in January.
So the repercussions of a West Ham victory – or the consequences of an unthinkable loss- will likely have massive consequences for the Hammers head coach and for others at the club, Kudus included.
