Center-back Eric Dier was the revelation of last January’s transfer window for Bayern Munich.
The Englishman arrived on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, joining his former teammate Harry Kane, and quickly made his impact — even finding himself at the top of the center-back pecking order under Thomas Tuchel, alongside Matthijs de Ligt.
Now Tuchel is gone, and so is De Ligt. And Dier? Despite the successes of last season, it is looking like he will be next after not looking anywhere close to in favor under new head coach Vincent Kompany.
From Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, via @iMiaSanMia:
Eric Dier is very popular in the dressing room and has many friends in the team. However, the clear tendency is that the Englishman will not get a new contract and will leave the club next summer.
Alas, poor Eric! The Bavarians made his loan permanent, but permanence in football is fleeting still. Where might the long-time Spurs defender end up next?
