Harry Kane made the move to Bayern Munich to win trophies.
In season one, that did not work out, but the Bavarians are not operating at a different level than anyone else in the Bundesliga (which is having a down year). That elusive first trophy should be there for the taking this season.
If Kane does win, would that affect his decision-making for his future? Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United seem to think so:
Harry Kane has long been established as one of the best players on the planet, and at Bayern Munich he continues to prove it. After a lifetime in the colors of Tottenham Hotspur, in 2023 he finally decided to move on and start an adventure in a more ambitious team, in which he could play in the Champions League every year, and fight for titles. But for the moment, his record is still blank.
Although everything seems to indicate that this year will finally put an end to that drought, as they are once again leading the Bundesliga ahead of the rest of the pursuers, such as RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen or Borussia Dortmund. The English star has made the departure of Robert Lewandowski a thing of the past, and may even improve on the Pole’s record, something that seemed practically impossible. However, his adventure at the Allianz Arena may be short-lived.
Because, against all odds, a rumor has gained strength that ensures that two of the most powerful entities on the planet intend to assault his incorporation next summer, and pay an astronomical figure. Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, who are looking for an offensive reference of absolute guarantees, and would have already prepared about 130 million euros to get the former Norwich City or Leicester City player to leave Germany.
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Luis Enrique regret not having recruited a striker to cover the absence of Kylian Mbappé, now at Real Madrid. They need to make amends for this mistake, and plan to make a move in the market to bring in a galactico, with Kane as the leading candidate at the moment. But at the Parc des Princes they will face competition from another top club that is not living a good institutional moment.
A transfer to PSG seems unlikely given Kane’s difficulty in learning German so far. Trying to switch gears and learn French might just be too much for the striker and his family. Manchester United, however, could be alluring to Kane, who could return to England as a conquering hero on a quest to break the Premier League goal-scoring record…and revive a flounder club in United.
Just food for thought…if Kane wins a trophy this season, he could — at least conceivably — take a look back at what ENgland has to offer.
At one point, AC Milan’s Luka Jović was firmly on Bayern Munich’s transfer radar. That was a long time ago, though, and now he could be looking at a future with Villarreal or Zenit:
Villarreal and Zenit are interested in AC Milan forward Luka Jović, who has one year left on his deal.
Matchday 10 saw the in-form Omar Marmoush proving his versatility in scoring once again, this time with a sublime free-kick. We also witnessed the start of life under Dieter Hecking for VfL Bochum, a still ineffective VfB Stuttgart, and Bayern Munich steadily leading the march toward an unexciting title race.
Additionally, this episode covers:
- Why Sebastian Hoeneß’s VfB Stuttgart are facing a serious consistency problem.
- Why Eintracht Frankfurt are loving life under Dino Toppmöller?
- A brief history and societal context surrounding the ‘miserably charming’ city of Bochum and its beloved football club.
- Dieter Hecking’s eyebrows!
- …and much more.
Hoffenheim is certainly a team in transition and it looks like winger Jacob Bruun Larsen could be looking to follow former coach Pellegrino Matarazzo out the door:
At this stage a winter transfer of Jacob Bruun Larsen is very likely.
The Danish winger is getting very little playing time and has recently changed his management agency.

Tell us if you heard this one before, FC Barcelona could be looking to part ways with Frenkie De Jong and Ronald Araújo:
– Barcelona will look to move on Frenkie de Jong or Ronald Araújo if they do not sign new contracts. If Barcelona have a successful season, interest in Nico Williams or Rafael Leao could even be shelved.
Bayern Munich will ease into the break on a nice, little run of wins, so what better time to sit back and assess how things look at this stage.
There has been a lot of good, some bad, but a lot to discuss, so let’s get right to it on this edition of Bavarian Podcast Works. This is what we have on tap:
- Final thoughts on Bayern Munich vs. St. Pauli
- How should we feel about Bayern Munich at this point in the season?
- Has Jamal Musiala made the leap?
- Germany released its latest roster, so let’s dive into what this squad will look like for this week’s matches.
For a couple of weeks now, it has been rumored that Werder Bremen was interested in taking Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel on loan in January. However, those rumors might be a little…off:
Werder Bremen head of football Peter Niemeyer on being linked with a loan move for Mathys Tel: “We are treating this rumour as we would all other speculations and will not be not commenting on it.”
According to @BILD, the name Tel has not been discussed concretely at Bremen for January, therefore there’s no serious interest at the moment. Nevertheless, the Frenchman is highly appreciated at the club. Werder had enquired about a loan move last summer but were turned down by Tel and Bayern
Liverpool FC wants to bring in someone to compete with former Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch:
Liverpool are set to scour the market for a new central midfielder in the January transfer window, reports Football Insider. Money is set to be made available to head coach Arne Slot after the club missed out on signing Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi in the summer. Ryan Gravenberch has made the No. 6 position his own this season, but Liverpool are said to be keen on providing some competition for the young Dutchman.
Bayern Munich faced recently promoted FC St. Pauli in a game everyone thought Bayern would run off with. But that wasn’t exactly the case. St. Pauli put up an incredible performance against Der Rekordmeister tonight, with a rock solid defense and a creative offense (something Bayern lacked) that they used to hold their own. After a hard fought game like tonight’s, there’s bound to be loads to analyze.
So let’s get right into it on this edition of our postgame show:
- A quick review of what was different tonight, and what it meant for the rest of the game
- A (mostly) critical analysis of Bayern’s midfield and offense, and why Leon Goretzka doesn’t start anymore
- FC St. Pauli’s surprisingly solid performance today on the big stage
- Jamal Musiala is Vincent Kompany’s machine
- Can Bayern do better than this?
