West Ham stars may be the big beneficiaries of a developing situation in the England squad as Harry Kane sensationally speaks out.
West Ham are used to seeing some of their star players ignored by England down the years.
But Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen being snubbed by Lee Carsley has taken things to another level.
New or interim England managers always start the same way, saying the right things.
Players will be picked on form not based on who they play for.
Eventually, though, fans feel that “big six bias” always comes to the fore.
Lee Carsley’s spell in charge of England has been nothing short of disastrous so far.
And it is plumbing new depths on an almost hourly basis.
Bowen was left out yet again by Carsley for the Nations League games against Greece and Ireland.
That’s despite there being only five English players with better overall statistics than Bowen in the Premier League this season.
But a series of withdrawals saw the England boss go cap in hand to West Ham’s main man to come into the squad.
Second West Ham star will surely be drafted into England squad
Bowen has said how much he has loved every minute of being involved with the national team.
That’s despite his shoddy treatment under Gareth Southgate and now Carsley.
Of course West Ham’s top scorer accepted the invitation and headed straight to St George’s Park.
In the opposite direction to a number of other players it seems.
Now a second West Ham star will surely be drafted into the England squad as Harry Kane fumes at the developing situation.
Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite has now made it NINE players to withdraw from the last international meet-up of the year.
Interim boss Carsley, who is taking charge of his final camp before new boss Thomas Tuchel takes over, will be without Aaron Ramsdale, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Levi Colwill, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and now Branthwaite.
The withdrawal of Branthwaite now surely means West Ham’s £40m man Max Kilman will join Bowen in the squad.
Kilman has been excellent since arriving at West Ham and is arguably the club’s player of the season so far.
England are in dire need of more ball-carrying central defenders. Especially left-footed ones. Kilman ticks all those boxes and more.
Now Branthwaite has pulled out, the Hammer of the Year contender has to be next in line.
Harry Kane fumes at situation as Bowen shows commitment
Last month it was revealed that Kilman has been better than France and Arsenal star William Saliba in five or nine key areas this season.
There was an argument the ex futsal star should have been in the initial squad.
But after a host of withdrawals, it will be a huge slap in the face if he’s not called up now.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is another who can feel hard done by not being selected.
Especially as he can play both right and left-back, which is another problem position for England.
Now the country’s skipper has spoken out in unprecedented fashion about the withdrawals.
Kane revealed his disappointment and even suggested some England players have forgotten the importance of representing their country.
Hammers duo Kilman and Wan-Bissaka disrespected by Carsley
“I think England comes before anything,” Kane told Sky Sports in an explosive interview the reporter even admitted caught him by surprise.
“England comes before club, it is the most important thing as a professional footballer.
“Gareth was hot on that and he wasn’t afraid to make decisions if that started to drift from certain players…
“It’s a shame this week, obviously. It’s a tough period of the season and maybe that’s been taken advantage of a little bit.
“I don’t really like it if I’m totally honest. England comes before anything and any club situation.”
Kane will no doubt be impressed by the attitude of West Ham talisman Bowen, who leapt at the opportunity despite Carsley’s initial snub.
Now the interim boss must pick up the phone to his Hammers teammate Kilman too.
At least he would turn up.
