Japanese international Takefuso Kubo on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar
Tottenham Hotspur still need to paper some cracks in their team if they are to contend for silverware. Their offensive department is a place that is particularly lacking depth and quality. Timo Werner’s loan is unlikely to translate into a permanent move next year, while Richarlison’s form and fitness have also raised question marks over his utility.
Son Heung-min is ageing and will need to be replaced sooner rather than later, which leaves Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke as the team’s only couple of reliable attacking options. Dejan Kulusevski is capable of playing in the final third although he has recently adapted to a role in midfield and Wilson Odobert is still too young to be entrusted with a starring role in the team.
With that in mind, the Lilywhites are plotting a swoop for Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo next year, according to Fichajes. The former Real Madrid star has been on Liverpool’s radar as well, and with a release clause amounting to approximately £50 million, the two big sides from the Premier League could battle it out for his signature in 2025.
Kubo is one of Sociedad’s best wingers. He has an eye for goal, the ability to take on defenders and is brilliant from a creative standpoint as well, so he would be a brilliant addition for Tottenham. Having featured for Madrid previously as well as being a part of Barcelona’s academy, the Japanese international can be trusted to handle the pressure of playing in England as well.
The 23-year-old is unlikely to be handed a primary role in the starting eleven right from the word go and potentially will be a back-up behind Brennan Johnson on the flank. However, with the Welshman already having inconsistent patches, Kubo’s signing could help Tottenham have another quality option, who has shown several times in La Liga that he can be a differential.

His £50 million price tag is unlikely to be much of a deterrent either and is a price Tottenham can comfortably afford. However, it remains to be seen if the player is enticed by the prospect of joining the north Londoners or prefers signing for a team that can offer him the chance to play in the Champions League, like one of his other suitors Liverpool, for instance.
