Gonzo’s article earlier confirms that the Niclas Fullkrug situation at West Ham is completely unsatisfactory: It seems from stories around Europe that plans are afoot to deal with it. After consecutive transfer windows when no front man has been signed, and last summer’s pretty lukewarm addition of 31 year old Fullkrug, the urgency of finding an alternative striker solution finally appears to have been rammed home by Antonio’s accident, year plus of rehab and uncertain future.
Fullkrug seems to have made his mind up – for whatever reason – that he is on his way out of West Ham United in January: How much of this is speculation we won’t know until the end of the window but he’s proven already that he is no Antonio substitute.
Danny Ings is no front line Premier League striker either. Whether Fullkrug leaves or frankly even if he stays. the resources in the striker department of West Ham’s team are unacceptable this winter and remain one of the top two priorities along with midfield reinforcement.
The back line will probably have to make-do and mend with three centre-backs and three full-backs rotating as needed. Fullkrug’s situation needs urgent attention and according Christian Falk in The Daily Briefing West Ham have already created an action plan.
Widely reported, Fullkrug has been offered by his agents to Juventus as the Hammers’ misfit wants out of claret and blue.
Entitled “West Ham may have a solution to their Niclas Füllkrug problem”. The report confirms Fullkrug’s easing out to Juventus is under discussion, and the emergence of a successor.
As originally stated in Claret and Hugh two weeks ago, (new name on the radar is definitely one to watch) , the report confirms West Ham are now looking to bring in prodigy Stefano Tzimas who is a young man going places.
Whilst he fits the profile as one of ‘Steidten’s Pearls’ at just eighteen he cannot be expected to lead the Hammers attack so may be the first part of the solution: Knowing Lopetegui’s reluctance to use Guilherme we have to ask if Tzimas would actually get into the first team at all.
At just 18 he’s an emerging talent and could offer West Ham an affordable (€10m on transfermarkt means €20 million in real money) ‘plan B’to Bowen or Fullkrug. He’s currently a tier 2 footballer from Nurnberg out on loan so hardly the finished article.
One to watch but not to go wild about.
