Former Bayern Munich and German national team star Stefan Effenberg hit on the topic of Bayern Munich’s contract discussions with Leroy Sané. For an extension to work, Effenberg thinks the Germany international will have to take a pay cut (via his column for Sport1):
Among other things, Leroy Sané’s contract expires in the summer. Although he sent a clear message after the Leipzig game and said that he would like to stay, he will have to accept a reduction in his salary. It remains to be seen whether he will accept this, but in any case the talks must now gain momentum so that the club has a certain degree of planning security.
Sané next few weeks could be interesting. Bayern Munich seems to be okay with a contract extension at a reduced rate, but the winger will surely get better financial offers on the open market.
FC Barcelona is among the teams looking at Sané, but it is safe to say, quite a few Premier League teams would like to bring the German back to England as well.
