In honor of the late Franz Beckenbauer, Bayern Munich have prepared something special, via @iMiaSanMia:
As part of the club’s 125th anniversary, FC Bayern will host a unique legends tournament on March 17, 2025 in honor of the late Franz Beckenbauer: the “Beckenbauer Cup”. The proceeds will go to the Franz Beckenbauer Foundation.
At the small-field indoor tournament in Munich’s SAP Garden, FC Bayern will host legends teams from Real Madrid, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart and another top international team that will be announced soon. Philipp Lahm will be part of the FCB legends for the first time as a coach
Fresh from his role of helping to plan the 2024 European Championship in Germany, Lahm was asked for some comments, via @iMiaSanMia: “I’m very proud to be part of the FC Bayern legends for the first time at this special event. We are excited about the tournament with spectacular international top clubs, and I personally am looking forward to seeing a few familiar faces from previous big games – games where Franz Beckenbauer was rooting for us in the stands. We will never forget him. Especially someone who was born in Munich, he was always a personality who inspired me in a special way.”
