Chris Sutton has just made a really strange claim about West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen.
Jarrod Bowen has been the standout performer for West Ham this season, by a long way in my opinion.
He was named as the new Hammers captain in the summer, and Aaron Cresswell recently highlighted just how perfect the 28-year-old is for that role.
Bowen is not only lethal inside the final third, but he always puts in a proper defensive shift as well.
He is everything that we want from a West Ham player.
Bowen has taken things to a whole new level over the past couple of years, and now he’s widely considered to be one of the very best forwards in the Premier League.
And that’s what makes Sutton’s latest take so strange.
Chris Sutton’s Jarrod Bowen claim will leave West Ham fans gobsmacked
The BBC pundit often shares some rather controversial takes.
And his latest one certainly fits into that particular category.
Sutton commented on the Hammers’ season so far, when writing his regular column for BBC Sport.
And he made a truly bizarre claim about Bowen.
Sutton said, “To be fair to the Hammers, they are level on points with Spurs and above Manchester United in the table, so maybe their season is just a slow burner.“
“So far, they have been underwhelming under Julen Lopetegui, but they have now put together a four-game unbeaten run and Jarrod Bowen seems to have become their go-to player in recent weeks.“
What on earth is Sutton talking about? ‘In recent weeks’…he’s been our main man for years now.
When West Ham are up against it, and need one of our players to step up and be counted, Jarrod Bowen is nigh on every single time that man.
Everybody knows that Bowen is the Hammers’ talisman, surely they do right?
The 28-year-old has been sensational for us since he moved to the London Stadium in January 2020.
It really surprises me that Chris Sutton – a supposed football pundit – is under the impression that Jarrod Bowen has only just become West Ham’s go-to man!
