Julen Lopetegui is clearly treading on very thin ice at West Ham United right now.
West Ham brought in Julen Lopetegui to replace David Moyes in the summer, but things haven’t worked out at all.
The Spaniard has overseen a horrendous Premier League campaign at the London Stadium so far, and it has been claimed that a heavy defeat to Manchester City could see him lose his job.
The football on display has been utter dross and if we’re being honest, the results have flattered us.
Lopetegui has seriously underperformed in his role as Hammers head coach, there are no two ways about it.
It’s incredibly frustrating that the Spaniard is still being given the chance to atone for his errors at West Ham, but now a big twist has come to light.
Big Julen Lopetegui U-turn from West Ham board
The Spaniard faces an extremely uncertain future at the London Stadium.
With some very tough fixtures on the horizon, it’s not looking good for Lopetegui at the moment.
And now, it seems like even a couple of decent results might not be enough to save him.
According to a report from The Mirror, Lopetegui faces the sack within the next 11 days.
However, the difference this time is that results aren’t the only factor being considered by the board.
The Hammers owners have made it very clear that if Lopetegui’s side do not show signs of improvement with their performances over their next two matches, the 58-year-old could be sacked.
Does that mean a couple of draws from the games against Man City and Aston Villa could still see Lopetegui lose his job if the performances are not up to the required standard?
I highly doubt it in all fairness.
I fully expect Julen Lopetegui to remain in charge of West Ham if we avoid defeat in our next two matches.
Personally, I believe the Spaniard should have been sacked back in October after we lost 4-1 to Tottenham Hotspur.
But what do I know?!
